A trained ophthalmologist, corneal specialist, and one of the most experienced LASIK eye surgery specialists in the region, performing over 30,000 LASIK procedures. Dr. Peters was one of the first doctors to perform the Visian ICL (implantable collamer lens) and was one of the first surgeons in New England to be credentialed to implant the newest versions of the Visian ICL – the EVO Toric and EVO ICL.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Peters is a medical consultant for Bausch & Lomb and is frequently asked to participate in national events to educate and train other eye surgeons.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Peters attended and graduated with honors from the University of California at Davis, and obtained his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Peters’ extensive post-graduate training included an internship at the University of Hawaii and a residency at the University of California at Irvine.
In addition, Dr. Peters also trained at the renowned Gimbel Eye Centre in Calgary, Alberta, attaining his fellowship in Refractive and Anterior Segment Surgery.
A widely published author and editor of multiple textbooks on LASIK and Wavefront LASIK technology, Dr. Peters has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and has appeared as a guest lecturer at a variety of national ophthalmic conferences.
Serving as the only clinical consultant in New England for Bausch & Lomb, Dr. Peters has had the distinct privilege of being privy to some of the most advanced, up-to-date and cutting edge medical technology available worldwide.
A current fellow at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Dr. Peters is also a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgeons, European Society of Cataract and Refractive, and the New Hampshire Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
Because of his extensive knowledge in treating various types of astigmatism, Technolas Perfect Vision awarded Dr. Peters a Certificate of Recognition, and in 2011 Clear Advantage received a distinguished award as a Specialized Astigmatism Center.
